GLBT LGBT And 22 More

2009 October 23

TBLG – TBGL – TGLB – TGBL – TLGB – TLBG – BGLT – BGTL – BLGT – BLTG – BTGL – BTLG – LTGB – LTBG – LBGT – LBTG – LGBT – LGTB – GTBL – GTLB – GBLT – GBTL – GLTB – GLBT

Four letters, twenty-four combinations. I became accustomed to seeing GLBT. Not long ago it seems that gave way to LGBT. Let’s just assume chivalry is not dead and somehow held great sway amongst the individual groups signified by each of those letters and “ladies first” became the accepted protocol.

If you are not buying that, you’re not a charter member of that club. After all how must it make those in the group whose initial is B or T feel that those letters infrequently (if ever) appear first? How is it all these people with the common causes of being treated equally, inclusively and free from discrimination don’t practice it themselves? Huh? You ask. Well if I fit into the T category and it is always included last in the initials, I could feel discriminated against. Same if in the B category. Don’t you Bs and Ts or Ts and Bs feel just a bit neglected, unequally included and even discriminated against by others within your cause?

The day may come when those in the B and T categories will unite to demand equal recognition from the rest within the TLBG movement. Yet others will demand BLTG needs equal recognition, and a negotiated agreement will be hammered out to be sure each of the twenty-four combinations will be used equally by the LTBG movement. You gotta wonder how organization wide enforcement of that will work not to mention how confusing announcements and press releases will be. Or would it only serve to constipate the court system more than it already is.

That’s OK, it’s an issue that really needs to be sorted out to assure justice and equal treatment for all in the TLBG communities. Go for it. Following all the news surrounding it will be fascinating regardless of individual attitudes about it.
